Amy LaRue, DACM, Dipl.OM (NCCAOM)®, LAc
Amy is a licensed acupuncturist (LAc) and board-certified herbalist with a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (DACM) from Pacific College of Health and Science. She sees people of all ages for a variety of concerns and strives to empower each person's potential to respond to challenges with improved resilience and quality of life. In her personal health journey, she has experienced healing with East Asian Medicine in areas of digestion, stress, muscle tension, skin health, menstrual health, and swift recovery from acute cold respiratory symptoms.
Along with acupuncture, Amy often employs comprehensive herbal strategies as a significant internal component in healing. Through the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine®, she continues advanced training in canonical Chinese herbal medicine, cultivating skills that effectively integrate historical theoretical frameworks with responsible, practical application to modern clinical situations.
Her previous clinical experience includes supportive oncology at RUSH University Medical Center, rehabilitative medicine at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, and chronic pain management at Heartland Health Centers Chicago. She's nationally certified as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (Dipl. O.M.) by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine®, demonstrating national board competency in Biomedicine, Foundations of Oriental Medicine, Acupuncture, Chinese Herbology, and Clean Needle Technique, and fulfills continuing education requirements for recertification.
With an additional Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Performing Arts from Lindenwood University, Amy worked in professional dance and theater for many years. This has provided her a strong reference to the physical and mental demands involved with both athletic and artistic performance, as well as those related to other forms of work such as administrative and dining service. Her mentors and teachers in both dance and Chinese medicine have taught her helpful approaches for tuning in to the body and mind to help target problem areas as well as prevent injury and burnout. She now incorporates this experience into clinical strategies for individuals.
